Experts in Electrical Design

Cadtek Design is an expert in a variety of electrical disciplines and offers detailed designs for domestic, commercial and industrial sectors using the latest electrical design and draughting software.

Our service includes an initial on-site survey to assess the project and gather all of the information required to generate the design pack. Each pack includes detailed floor plans, industry-standard compliant designs with supporting calculations, bill of materials and certification.

Electrical Design Calculations:
BS 7671: 2018

Cadtek’s electric design calculations are generated in proprietary software Amtech, part of the Trimble design software group. These calculations will confirm compliance with the latest industry standards – BS7671:2018. Amtech will generate several useful outputs for the installer to use to validate their installation and materials used. These are:

  • Single line diagrams of the distribution network which can be used in their native data file format or can be imported into AutoCAD and presented as an issuable drawing.

  • Cable schedules, identifying cable type, length and size, protective device, volt drop etc.

  • Coordination survey ensuring all characteristic of the protective devices in the distribution network has been assessing and if needed, set up to ensure time/trip curves are configured to minimise nuisance tripping and energy let through ensuring the integrity of all device up and downstream.

  • Initial verification, periodic inspection and minor works certification.

  • Other certificates also generated include BS5266 emergency lighting design installation and commissioning certificates and BS5839 fire alarm system design, installation, and commissioning certificates.

  • A Bill of Materials (BOM) itemising materials needed for the installation as specified in the above-mentioned design.

General and Emergency Lighting Calculations:
BS 5266: 2016 (2019)

Cadtek’s lighting design calculations are generated in proprietary software Relux. These calculations will confirm compliance with the latest industry standards – BS 5266: 2016 (2019). Relux will generate several useful outputs for the installer to use to validate their installation and materials used. These are embedded in a report that breaks down the following:

  • Light fittings used in the calculations are sourced from a wide database of suppliers in the UK, Europe and across the work.

  • Validation calculations confirming peak, minimum and average light levels in all areas of the installation in compliance with CIBSIE and lighting guides.

  • Photometric lighting plots giving easy determination of light levels.

  • BS5266 emergency lighting design installation and commissioning certificates can be issued using the Amtech software.

  • A Bill of Materials (BOM) itemising materials needed for the installation as specified in the above-mentioned design.

Fire Alarm System Design:
BS 5839: 2019

Our fire system designs comprise of fire alarm layout drawings detailing:

  • Positions and types of detection devices, audible and visual alarm positions and manual call points in accordance with the requirements of BS5839.

  • H1 certificate validating the fire alarm design – installation and commissioning certificate can be issued using the Amtech software.

  • Fire plan for building identifying building zones.

  • A Bill of Materials (BOM) itemising materials needed for the installation as specified in the above-mentioned design.

Lightning Protection and Grounding:
BS 7671: 2018 and BS 62305: 2011

Cadtek’s lightning protection and grounding system (LPS) designs comprise of:

Site LPS survey and risk assessment report identifying environmental impact, building user/occupier profile, and building type, all comprising a report to identify LPS category for design and installation and category of surge protection needed for an installation.

LPS layout drawings detailing:

  • Positions and types of LPS equipment.

  • Installation details type A or B.

  • A Bill of Materials (BOM) itemising materials needed for the installation as specified in the above-mentioned design.

General Control Wiring

We provide control wiring schematics for various control requirements, lighting control, machine control and emergency stop configurations plus many more.

BMS Design

We have a close working relationship with a BMS service provider with whom we offer a comprehensive range of tailor-made services to help you manage energy and control costs within your commercial property. Their expert team of engineers have an unrivalled depth of knowledge in all aspects of building services and controls engineering, enabling us to offer an effective end-to-end service. As a specialist building management system (BMS) consulting engineers, together we create truly bespoke BMS and integration services – from project design, installation, and commissioning, right through to ongoing support and maintenance.

Services include:

  • Controls design

  • Trend integration

  • Fully detailed quotations

  • Project management

  • Electrical installation

  • Commissioning

  • Training

All systems can be supplied with a fully engineered graphical front end providing smart, functional, and easy access to building performance information, alarms, and both historic and live data. Typically, these are available online, so you can access them remotely at any time.

Bill of Materials

We generate the BOMs for your project, ready to give to electrical suppliers to quote against. We specify manufacturers and models or leave them generic for you to decide.

Some projects require huge amounts of materials which soaks up precious time. We can generate all the BOMs for your project, giving that time back to you.

Specifications

We offer support in writing technical proposals that can be included in tender packs or handover documentation at the completion of a project. Often our clients require the ability to present and breakdown in writing what they are proposing to deliver. This adds strength to their bid package so ensuring the award of the contract. Equally the handover dossier or Declaration of Conformity will include a number of technical documents to be present that summarise the operation and performance of individual components of a building or of the complete system as a whole.

In addition to our main services, Cadtek also offer a survey and draughting service.

Have you ever looked at a lighting job, a rewire or distribution design, walked around a site with a contractor/maintenance engineer with out of date drawings or no drawings at all?
Cadtek Design can solve this with our survey and draughting service. Our services include:

Floor Plan Layouts

We offer accurate floor layouts ready for the design, visiting, measuring, surveying and drawing up of the plans.

One of the most important elements of a high-quality design is accuracy when it comes to floor planning. Too often, these get lost, are outdated, or do not exist at all! At Cadtek, our dedicated survey and draughting team supply this service, accurately surveying, measuring and drawing floor plans. You may even require a drawing not related to your design, Cadtek can produce drawings, whatever your project needs

As Built Drawing Capture

Cadtek offers an As Built drawing capture service, updating the design drawings reflecting exactly how services are represented on site.

No matter how good design drawings are on paper, in the real world, unseen problems do occur and on-site alterations are necessary. Cadtek will perform this from simple red line marks to carrying out an on site survey.

Some projects fall into CDM regulations, where As Built drawings are a requirement.

Plotting Service

Cadtek offers a high-quality plotting service, printing all of your drawings ready for on site installations.

Do not struggle with A4 prints trying to focus on small details. Our full drawing packs come in all paper sizes from A4 to A0 and can be in either colour or black and white.

Simply send us your files and we will return your high-quality prints by first class post.
